Trip to New York (July 13 - 16, 2007) - DAY 1

Our trip to New York was a birthday and farewell present from Carlos since my birthday is on July 17 and I'll be leaving on July 20. I really wanted to see the Statue of Liberty before I go home and I'm really thankful to Carlos and Izzet for giving me the chance to experience this. So, on July 13, 2007, Izzet, V and I went to the coolest city in United States -New York.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel

We passed through the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Eventhough I stayed in Virginia for 6 months, this is my first time seeing it (well, I don't know how to drive so I'm pretty much stuck in my apartment). It was a great view. It goes underwater and if you're in a plane, you'll be able to see the submerged part of the bridge.

New York is a 7-hour drive from Virginia and we were able to see Delaware, Philadelphia and New Jersey on our way there. After 3 hours of travelling, I felt really sick and we had to stop at a Dunkin Donuts in Delaware so we could use a bathroom and I could throw up.

We're NEARRRRR!!!!!!! Woohooo!!

We stopped at the Liberty State Park (New Jersey) so that, according to Carlos, we could see Statue of Liberty's ass. Since it's Carlos, I thought he was just trying to be funny. Well, what he meant was that we could see the back of the statue from the park and not the statue's bare ass.

It turns out that on this park, you could see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the city of New York.

New York City

At last, we've arrived....

It's New York!!!

New York was really amazing! It's exactly how it looked like in the movies. Very busy and fast-paced. People hurrying to get to work, cabs cutting through the traffic and pedestrians running for their lives. V has to use his Manila-driving skills for us to survive the city streets. Being in New York feels like home! I was even able to take a glimpse of the Grand Central Terminal on my first day here!

Grand Central Terminal

We're staying on Waldorf=Astoria Hotel. It's a renowned luxury hotel located at 301 Park Avenue in midtown Manhattan. It's a really awesome hotel. We were able to get the executive suite!

The hotel is near the Grand Central Terminal so we decided to walk a bit to take a look at it.
